JaxParks

Created in Adobe InDesign to show printed interview I conducted with Jimmy Smith of the Disabled Services Division. The story, being published in JaxParks Now Newsletter, shows three pictures, one of Jimmy and me and two of Jimmy alone. For the interview, he sat down with me to discuss his story, his goals, and his thoughts on perseverance and forgiveness. He also participated in the "I Am Able" PSA campaign series.

I Am Able

Awareness campaign

Digitally edited and created in Avid Studio, the I Am Able campaign consisted of a series of PSAs and interviews, one of the people being Jimmy Smith who I interviewed and created a print piece about. The people featured in the videos state their names, disabilities and what they are able to do. Additionally, B-Roll is shown of what their abilities are. I videotaped portions of the videos, edited the PSAs and interviews in Avid Studio and created the ending text screen with motion graphics in Adobe After Effects.

In addition to the PSAs, I conducted two profile pieces: one about Megan Mauney, who was featured in the second I Am Able PSA and the other about Scott Harrell who was featured in the first I Am Able PSA. They both talk about their disabilities, their struggles with their disabilities and the positive outcomes from everything they have experienced. I thoroughly researched both interviewees and drafted questions in preparation for the interview. Megan's piece aired individually on YouTube and as part of JPTV's channel on Youtube, as well as government access channel 99.
